I had an infection under one of my upper back teeth from an old root canal gone bad, and because it was directly next to my sinus cavity, my regular dentist decided removing the tooth was above their pay grade. So, I went searching for a dental surgeon. I have Humana insurance, and it was easy to use their portal to print a list of in-network providers in Washington and Oregon. I was happy to see that a Mariam Hamidi was listed in conjunction with Battle Ground Smiles Dentistry, because I live in Battle Ground! I had to make an initial consultation appointment with BGSD's regular dentist just to see if they could perhaps remove my tooth themselves, but still no go. So on to Dr. Hamidi ... I enjoyed meeting Dr. Hamidi because she has a good 'bedside manner.' I was pretty nervous about my tooth being pulled (I had visions of two-foot-long pliers and spurts of blood), and she was successful in getting me to relax. After that, the actual surgery was anti-climatic. I had several numbing shots, which worked quickly, and Dr. Hamidi had to drill once into the tooth to lessen the grip of the tooth's roots. Then (using regular-sized pliers, haha), Dr. Hamidi pulled the tooth. She had to use a fair amount of force, but there was no discomfort or pain on my part. After the numbing wore off, they presented me with my tooth and I left (be sure to ask for your tooth, it's yours. Mine has a fair amount of dental gold on it, not that I know what to do with it). Maybe because I was anxious about the procedure beforehand, and the resulting process was so matter-of-fact and calm, I highly recommend Dr. Hamidi for any dental surgery you might need! Dr. Hamidi is a contract doctor, which means she works out of several locations. So if she's in-network for your insurance, go with Dr. Hamidi! She's very good!
